From KLIA (Kuala Lumpur Internation Airport) T2, I flew to Soekarno–Hatta International Airport (CGK) via AirAsia for a short vacation in Jakarta, Indonesia. Upon landing, I went to another terminal via the Skytrain for free. After dropping my bags at The Packer Lodge Jakarta in Chinatown area, I went to Kota Tua. I used Gojek, a local motorcycle e-hailing service. It is similar to the Angkas of the Philippines and the Bolt in Thailand. Kota Tua Jakarta or Old Batavia is the original down town area of Jakarta. You can rent a bike, rent some accessories and even a dress that resembles the fashion back then, take a photo with the street artists, enjoy watching street performers, visit museums, be stunned by the architectures, and of course eat. Then I saw elevated platform with lots of people on it. It made me think what is that for until a bus came. It's a station for bus which seems to be similar to EDSA carousel in the Philippines. I also went to Jakarta Cathedral or The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption. It has a resemblance of Manila Cathedral. It is a walking distance from the Monas (National Monument), and situated right across the Istiqlal Mosque. At night I hunt for local foods then found this vendor on cart right infront of Wisma Bulan Indah. The chicken barbeque (BBQ) or locally known as ayam satay costed 25,000 Indonesian Rupiah for 10pcs. I was looking for satay paniki but wasn't lucky to find one. I also tried their public transport that looks like a jeepney in the Philippines. All I can say is "matagtag". Apostolic Journey to Indonesia by Pope Francis made me flew to Jakarta. He dropped by GBK Madya Stadium before heading to the main stadium where the holy mass was held. My verdict, you ask. When I was in Jakarta, it felt like I am in Manila but everything were in Google translate mode into Javanese or Bahasa. The climate was almost similar too. Cold in morning then gets hotter as the sun rises. One thing I enjoyed was how I become a one day millionaire. It took 3800 Philippine Pesos for me to have 1,000,000 IDR. Most of the foods are spicy. So if you are not a fan of chili, better let the seller know. How about you? What's your experience in Jakarta? Are you planning to visit it soon?
